R-Value is used to specify insulation levels and measures the insulation’s ability to resist heat flow. The higher the R-Value, the better the thermal performance of the insulation. The recommended insulation level for most attics is R-38 or around 13 to 14 inches of insulation. For a two-story home, we recommend R-50 or about 19 inches of insulation.
